A missing 'Asda cat' known for wandering around the grounds of the supermarket has been found more than 30 miles away from home a month later.

Sammy, a black cat with no tail, was often spotted outside Asda or at the Ashford Designer Outlet but went missing a month ago.

The disappearance on September 8 prompted a social media campaigner from feline fans across the town.

Now their efforts have been rewarded after Sammy was found on an industrial estate in Gillingham.

Her owner, Joanne Henderson, who lives in Newtown, said: "I was in a meeting in the bank when I got a phone call from a vet in Gillingham.

"Sammy had been microchipped so they were able to identify her - apparently she was found in an industrial park in the town, but she's absolutely fine so it's fantastic news.

"She'll definitely be treated and fussed over when she gets home, but she's going to be grounded that is for sure - people are going to have to wait to see her down at Asda again.

"We really can't tell how she got there, whether she was stolen and then dumped or whether she just jumped into a lorry.

"Thank you so much to everyone who helped for everything.

"People have been sharing it on Facebook and supported the search, and we're extremely grateful."

The owners are travelling to Medway to pick up the mischievous 15-year-old moggy today.
