An Ashford man who sparked a search when his frantic family reported him missing claims he is now living in Panama.

Relatives of Jon Young appealed for help in tracing the 25-year-old when he disappeared in February.

But, in a post on Facebook, Mr Young (pictured right) has now claimed he is in the Central American country of Panama.

He said: "To everyone I'm OK. I am currently living in Panama - Central America for the meantime. Don't ask any questions as I'm not going to answer any."

Mr Young's post wracked up more than 70 "likes" from his Facebook friends and family.

He was reported missing to police on Thursday, February 7 by his family when they had not heard from him in a week.

Mr Young disappeared during a trip to London visiting friends and made no contact with anyone until Sunday, February 24 when he said he was "safe and well and travelling abroad".

His sister Tina Young, who led the appeal in February, said: "Yes, Jon is staying in panama. He is safe and well."
