Extra buses are now running between the William Harvey and the town in a bid to reduce pressure at the hospital car park.

It’s being financed jointly in a partnership between the East Kent Hospital University Trust and bus operator Stagecoach.

The cost to the trust is £500,000, part of an overall investment that will also lay on more buses at its other hospitals in Margate and Canterbury.

Stagecoach commercial director Jeremy Cooper said: “We are confident that the improved services will attract car users and reduce pressure on parking for those travelling further afield.”

Stuart Bain, chief executive of the hospital trust, said: “Through an investment of nearly £500,000 we are bringing about significant access improvements to our hospitals for our patients and staff through public transport with Stagecoach."
