Motorists angered by Leacon Road closure
12:15, 11 January 2018
Motorists have been angered by the "sudden" closure of Leacon Road in Ashford.
The road is closed by Matalan however it is still accessible from the other end where they have no road signs making people aware of the closure.
This means that the motorists that are using Leacon Road to get onto Brookfield Road are having to turn around just before the junction and go all the way back.
One motorist, who asked not to be named, said: "It's absolutely appalling, there's no indication whatsoever that the road is closed.
"I travelled all the way down Leacon Road from the town centre to get onto Chart Road, only to find out it's closed at Matalan.
He continued: "There's a lot of very unhappy motorists. It's very time consuming to travel all the way down there then to turn round and have to go back towards the town centre.
"It's a disgraceful way to treat the public."
The road was closed this morning for electrical work, however it is unclear when it will be completley reopened.
UK Power Networks have been contacted.
