Developer Taylor Wimpey commissioned expert wood carving firm Woodland Centre to create a series of outdoor sculptures for residents at Repton Park.

The Sussex-based company came up with the dormouse bench, a mushroom-shaped table and a log bench.

Chainsaw Dave said: “The dormouse idea came about when we met with Taylor Wimpey’s project manager at Repton Park to discuss ideas.

“I had never carved a dormouse before and it struck me as an interesting sculpture.

“I spent four or five days carving the bench, which was a really enjoyable project and I was very pleased with the result. I hope it is well received by everyone at Repton Park.”
