Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley hopes the signing of Stuart King will enable his side to turn on the style.

Over the last couple of seasons Cugley’s side have been built around a solid defence but the coming campaign could be different.

King, a long-term target, adds the promise of goals to the attack and the Folkestone boss is also in the hunt for pacy wide men.

Cugley (pictured) said: "I’m pleased we’ve got Stuart, he’s an exciting player and he gets goals.

"I want our side to be more exciting next season. We’ve worked hard over the last few seasons but I want the players to show they can play attacking football now. It’s what people want to see and I want us to be more exciting to watch."

Last season Invicta scored more than one goal on only four occasions in the Ryman League, Premier Division, while their previous promotion-winning campaign was dominated by clean sheets and narrow wins.

Now Cugley wants to bring the goals back to Cheriton Road.

"It’s the way I have always wanted to play," he said. "But when the money was cut back I was left with three good centre-halves and so we played to our strengths.

"Our fans deserve to see goals and exciting football and hopefully we can repay their faith in us next season."
