Ashford's new Aldi store will open in August, it has been announced.
The discount store will sit next to the new £1.7 million Chapel Down brewery in Victoria Road, next to the Ashford International train station.
It will create 40 new jobs and will open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday.
Councillor Graham Galpin, cabinet member for the town centre at Ashford Borough Council, welcomed the new arrival.
“This supermarket brings a degree of competition to existing discount supermarkets,” he said.
“I am not sure whether it will have an impact or displace Lidl at this time.
“But it is on the other side of the railway line which is convenient for people living in South Ashford.”
The Aldi store, which will feature 93 parking spaces and has been built opposite Watling Tyres, is set to open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
An Aldi spokesperson could not give a precise date, but said the 18,500 sq ft store will open in August.
The site was given planning approval in August 2016.
It is part of a multi-million-pound regeneration scheme that also includes a hotel, a block of 200 flats and the brewery, which will open before April next year.
