A new eatery is set to open in the town centre today.
The Made Inn, which will offer a range of deli-style foods including cured meats and savouries, will open in the former Music Shop in New Rents.
Owner Steve Sitton, 28, withdrew plans for a micropub on the site earlier this month.
Mr Sitton said: "We withdrew the planning application for the micropub as we changed the business plans.
"Made Inn is something that is completely different.
"Ashford is a town that is constantly changing so now is a good time to invest in it and bring something new.
"I hope the eatery will be the first in a chain."
Mr Sitton, a qualified chef, will be offering customers the chance to make their own platters.
As well as food, alcohol including a range of real ales, wines, ciders, vodkas and gins, sourced from Kent, will be offered.
Both food and drink can be either eaten in or taken away.
Once open, the Made Inn was also have a 'suntrap' garden for customers to enjoy and will eventually be hosting events.
The eatery will be closed on Mondays but open from 12pm to 3pm and 5pm to 11pm on Tuesday to Thursday; 12pm to 12am on Friday and Saturday and 12pm to 8pm on Sunday.
The site has been vacant since February after the former Music Shop closed down.
Keely Timms and James Plows took on The Music Shop in 2014, but made the decision to close in February as Ms Timms recovers from illness.
Martin Judd had previously run the store for 20 years but died from cancer in 2015.
Made Inn will be open from 5pm tonight.
