The saga of the Church Lane/Road row in Kenardington took a surprise turn when someone decided to rename it Church Street!
As previously reported, controversy arose in the village when the parish clerk disclosed that the road was in fact a road and not a lane as the sign alleged.
Since the revelation there has been much debate on the issue, with parish councillor Geoff Cornes, pictured right, organising a petition to have it changed to Church Road.
However, someone seems to have taken it upon themselves to come up with a third option - by sticking a label across the sign saying Church Street.
Mr Cornes said: "I don’t know want the answer to that one is - somebody is being a bit of a comedian, I think."
According to Mr Cornes, the label has been removed.
Meanwhile, he has been told that he needs a 66 per cent support from those living in the road/lane - that’s eight households - to signal a change.
He said: "I don’t think we’re going to get that, but I’m not going to give up."
