This is the moment a police officer appeared to crash into a road sign in front of onlookers on a busy ring road.

The picture, taken by Chris Hawkins shows an officer inspecting the vehicle at 2pm this afternoon in Ashford town centre.

It shows damage to the back of the police car in Elwick Road at the shared space junction with Bank Street and the nearby road sign also appears to have been damaged.

Mr Hawkins said: “Bet his day isn't going so well.”

Kent Police has been contacted for comment on the crash.
