A 15-mile stretch of the M20 will be closed overnight for the next month.
As of this evening, the motorway will be closed London-bound between junctions 9 for Ashford and 8 for Maidstone.
The closure will be in force from 8pm to 6am all the way up until March 11.
The scheme, which will result in day traffic being limited to 50mph, is being carried out so barriers can be installed in preparation for Operation Brock, the planned traffic management system in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
Highways England will oversee the resurfacing of the hard shoulder, strengthening verges and installing new hazard marker posts.
