A new takeaway is to open in a shopping centre, and will be offering what could be Ashford's largest pizza.

Major refurbishment has taken place to transform the ex-Warren's Bakery branch in County Square into the new eatery, called On Pizza.

Among the menu options on offer from May 1 will be a range of 20-inch pizzas for delivery and takeaway, alongside slices, coffee, craft soda and locally sourced ice creams.

As well as classic pizza toppings, owners Adam and Edyta Dejnaka sampled 100 combinations to create unique styles.

Also on offer will be dessert pizzas, including one topped with mango, coconut and Biscoff biscuit.

Pizzas can be bought in full or by the slice.

The married couple will use a wealth of experience in the industry to make the family-run business a success.

Mrs Dejnaka said: "We’ve been working in pizza for 15 years and our days in big chains and national restaurants taught us a few things, mainly about what customers want.

"They want a place that cares for them, a place to get great food - made using fresh ingredients that tantalise the tastebuds - at a great price.

"We moved to Ashford from London four years ago and instantly felt at home.

"The people of Ashford are so very welcoming, kind and generally have a great sense of community.

"That’s why we set up On Pizza as a place to get great tasting food and the best hospitality.

"We are part of our local Ashford community, and so will try our best to source many of our ingredients from local businesses, work with local charities and food banks, and create lasting relationships with local companies and places of interest."

Opening on May 1, On Pizza will create 15 jobs.

The unit's former occupant Warren's Bakery created eight jobs when it launched in July 2018.

But the 160-year-old company announced a raft of closures in October, blaming lockdown and other Covid measures for a devastating drop in business.

Another pizza shop has opened during the pandemic on Bank Street, in the form of a Fireaway Pizza franchise.
