A motorway has now reopened following a two-car crash earlier this afternoon.
Kent Police and paramedics were called to the scene on the M20 coastbound carriageway between junction eight at Maidstone and junction nine at Ashford shortly after 1.30pm.
Motorists reported seeing overhead signs warning them to slow down because of an accident, which happened in the outside lane.
A Kent Police spokesman said the lane was closed while vehicles were recovered, and images from Highways England show all traffic being brought to a halt.
The scene was clear by 3.30pm.
