Woman's body found in pond behind Travelodge at Eureka Leisure Park, Ashford

A woman's body has been found in a pond.

Police sealed off the area behind Travelodge in Eureka Leisure Park, Ashford, following the discovery just before 4pm.

Several police cars, ambulances and forensics officers were called to the scene.

Reporter Aidan Barlow said earlier: "I have just seen an ambulance leave and the forensic teams have turned up.

"The police have cordoned off a section behind the Travelodge, near the pond.

"Officers are checking the pond and the bushes nearby. There are still a number of police cars here."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report of concern for the welfare of a person seen in a pond at 3.49pm on Tuesday 16 August.

"Officers and Secamb are currently attending the scene in Eureka Park, Ashford. A woman’s body has been recovered from the water.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."

Eureka Leisure Park, which is just off junction 9 of the M20, comprises several businesses including restaurants, a gym and a cinema.
