A prominent village pub which unexpectedly closed after years of trading is to reopen.
The Dukes Head in Sellindge near Ashford has been empty for a number of months after in closed in September - leaving the village without a pub.
But now new landlord Barrie Thompson has taken on the establishment on the A20 and plans to reopen it in March.
Mr Thompson, who is also in charge of The Red Lion in Hythe, says he will offer a pub and restaurant.
He said: "We've got a fair bit of work to do before we get the pub trading again and we are planning to open back up in March as long as everything goes to plan.
"We're excited to get this great pub trading again and serve the community."
Letting agent Motis Estate had advertised the property to lease for £3,300 per month, which works out as £762 per week.
The pub has room for 100 covers, with a beer garden, children's play area and 30-space car park.
It also offers living accommodation on the first floor providing three bedrooms.
In September, mystery surrounded its closure as residents said the site was always busy.
Mr Thompson is currently recruiting new bar and kitchen staff to join his team.
