Rape of schoolgirl: Man on police bail
00:00, 29 November 2001
DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a 10-year-old girl on the Stanhope estate at Ashford arrested a man at the weekend. The man, in his 30s, was questioned and released on police bail.
The arrest came shortly after a team of police officers stopped more than 3,000 cars on the estate. Senior detectives confirmed they were following one strong lead after road checks were set up outside the Ray Allen Centre in Stanhope Road, Speldhurst Close and the junction of Millbank Road and Chart Road, last Thursday (22).
The response from motorists was said to be very encouraging.
