Fly tippers block Cheeseman's Green Lane, Ashford

14:30, 08 August 2017

A country lane in Ashford has had to be closed due to rubbish dumped by fly tippers.

Cheeseman's Green Lane has been covered in debris including bricks, plaster boards, rubbish bags, carpet discards and sheets.

The rubbish, which has been coned off, nearly covers the already narrow road and road closure signs have now been put in either end.

Fed-up residents say that they are constantly getting rubbish dumped along the country road.

One lady from Bislington, who asked not to be named, said: "It's always happening, but this time its been tipped all over the road - not just along the sides."

"It makes you want to camp out and catch whoever is doing it, its all over the place."

Fly tipping is a criminal offence which is punishable by a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment.
