Sarah Everard died from a result of compression to the neck, a post-mortem has revealed.
The 33-year-old marketing executive disappeared while walking home in Clapham, south London, in March.
Her body was found near woodland in Great Chart, Ashford, a week later.
An initial post-mortem at Ashford's William Harvey hospital was inconclusive but another investigation has given her cause of death as "compression to the neck".
Sarah's family is being supported following the news, the Met Police confirmed.
Sarah's death sparked a wave of protests about women's safety.
- Serving police officer Wayne Couzens, of Deal, is charged with Sarah's kidnap and murder and will enter a plea at the Old Bailey next month with a provisional trial date set for October.
