Scott Porter pleased with Hythe Town's opening pre-season display

Hythe boss Scott Porter said his side could be proud of their first outing of pre-season, despite a narrow defeat at Concord Rangers on Saturday.
Town lost 1-0 against their Ryman League, Premier Division hosts in Essex but gave a good account of themselves, despite being hit by selection issues.
First-choice goalkeeper Kieran Mann had work commitments while back-up Tony Allen has joined Ashford, meaning Porter had to borrow a Concord keeper for the match.
Porter (pictured) was hoping to run the rule over a new youth keeper at training this week.
Porter said: "We were playing our first pre-season game, against a side from the league above us who were playing their third game so I am pleased with how things went.
"We gave a good account of ourselves, created chances throughout the game and still looked strong toward the end.
"Ashley and Dan came in and did well. It was a big plus point from the game for us.
"You want players to step up and give you something to think about."
Cook’s ankle is expected to have recovered in time to allow him to face Tonbridge Angels, who visit on Saturday.
Porter said: "Hopefully we will have everyone fit and available to play. All the new boys did well on Saturday. I couldn’t fault anyone and I’m looking forward to seeing them play again."
