Police search for Audi driver after car 'ends up on two wheels' in hit-and-run on Canterbury Road, Ashford

A driver was left shocked after his vehicle ended up on two wheels in a suspected hit-and-run.

A police appeal has been launched after a white Seat Ibiza was struck in Canterbury Road, Ashford by a black Audi.

The crash happened at the junction with Albert Road, at around 11.30pm on Friday, July 26.

The Audi is reported to have left the scene after the collision.

Driver Sidhant Gurang, 22, was left shocked after the incident.

He told KentOnline: “It came and hit me on the driver's side, which pushed our car onto two wheels for a second.

“My uncle hit his chest on the dashboard - it was all such a shock. I was heading home; we weren’t even far away when it happened.

“After the crash, I couldn’t talk or do anything for a moment. I had to sit in the car for a few seconds – I couldn’t believe what had just happened.

“We tried to look for the car's number plate, but it had reversed back and driven away.”

Officers are currently appealing for information.

A police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a collision that is reported to have occurred on Friday, July 26, in Canterbury Road, Ashford.

“It is reported that at about 11.30pm, a black Audi collided with a white Seat Ibiza before leaving the scene. Minor injuries were reported.

“Enquiries are underway to locate the driver of the Audi.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 26-1671.”
