Main roads clear but side roads and pavements across Ashford and Shepway remain treacherous
08:00, 13 January 2017
The big freeze continues today as temperatures remain hovering around zero.
Disruption to journeys is continuing following last night's snowfall and plummeting overnight temperatures.
The Met Office says today will be cloudy with periods of sleet or snow, especially further east for a time mid-morning. From late morning improving conditions will see some sunny spells as the sleet clears away from Kent.

But it will be staying cold and windy throughout Friday with strong winds and gales along the Kent coast and a maximum temperature of 3°C.
Temperatures will plunge again tonight to -3°C with a sharp frost and there could be further light wintry showers overnight.
A spokesman said: "A cold north to northwesterly airstream will maintain the risk of wintry showers through Friday night and Saturday morning.
"However, amounts of snow are likely to be very variable with some places remaining dry altogether."
A total of 60 gritters were out in force overnight, treating 1,300 miles of main roads. Minor roads are being treated this morning.
While most main roads are clear many side roads and pavements and paths are covered with patches of ice and frozen snow so drivers and pedestrians need to be cautious.
Schools in some parts of Kent are closed today because of the weather but there are no reports of school closures in Ashford Borough or the Shepway district.
