A miniature statue of the romantic poet Lord Byron which was stolen last month is now believed to have been recovered.
The 4ft high marble statue was estimated to be worth £10,000 and depicted the poet famous for works such as Don Juan, She Walks in Beauty, and Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage.
It went missing from Godmersham Park near Ashford between midnight and 5am on Wednesday, April 20.
Police issued an appeal and said the “extremely heavy” statue would have taken several people to move it.
But now according to the Country Eye mobile app the statue has been recovered, although it is believed that the police are still investigating the incident.
Officers are asking anyone with information to call them on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference ZY/012828/16.
