A student found dead 10 miles from where he crashed his car into a roundabout lamppost had taken cocaine beforehand, an inquest has heard.
Thabolethu Moyo, 26, was seen driving his black Mercedes erratically before it crashed on the A2070 at the Finn Farm roundabout in Ashford.
The car then continued along the main road towards Hastings before officers later found it in Guldeford Road on the Romney Marsh, close to the East Sussex border in Brookland.
Mr Moyo, who was originally from Harare in Zimbabwe, was found unresponsive in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At an inquest at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone on November 21, assistant coroner Alan Blunsdon said the crash did not cause the Bromley resident's death.
In a record of the inquest, it said: "He had used cocaine during the course of the evening and displayed erratic driving behaviour resulting in a minor traffic collision.
"He was later found dead in the car he was driving and not far from the collision site.
"The collision was not causative of the death."
Following Mr Moyo's death on August 23 last year, cards and flowers were left on the lamppost at the roundabout, where damage was caused to road signs.
His Mercedes had collided with the lamppost at about 8pm.
Mr Blunsdon recorded the death as drug-related, with the medical cause of death noted as multiple organ failure and acute cocaine toxicity.
