A man is suffering from smoke inhalation after sunlight reflecting off a mirror caused a bedroom to catch fire.
Fire crews descended on a property near Bethersden Road, Woodchurch, after sunlight reflected from a magnifying shaving mirror onto curtains, causing fire damage to a bedroom in the first floor property.
Two occupants were outside on their arrival at 12.43pm, and a man was suffering with the effects of smoke inhalation after having gone back inside the building.
Ambulance crews decided he didn't need to go to hospital after a check-up.
The fire was extinguished at 3.53pm, just over an hour after it started.
Ashford Crew Manager Andy Harris said: "While these sorts of incidents are rare, we urge people to ensure mirrors and other reflective objects such as crystal and glass ornaments are kept out of direct sunlight.
"It's really important that if you detect a fire in your property, to get out, stay out and call 999."
