Police called to Ashford's Lower High Street after unattended suitcase found near fountain sparks alert

A bag discovered in Ashford town centre this morning sparked a police alert.
It was reported at 10.15am that an unattended suitcase had been left in the Lower High Street, near the fountain.
Officers attended the scene and checked the bag, but found it empty.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at just after 10.15am today to a report of an unattended suitcase in High Street, Ashford.
"Officers attended and the suitcase was checked and found to be empty."
