Three boys have been charged in connection with a robbery at a supermarket that saw a knife pulled on a man.

Kent Police was called to the Faversham Road Co-op in Kennington, Ashford at 7.33am on Tuesday, February 26 following reports of a robbery.

A bottle of whisky had been taken by one of the teens, who threatened to stab a customer who tried to grab him.

Shortly after, officers received a report that a boy in the Park Road area had been assaulted with the bottle taken in the robbery.

The following day, three boys - all aged 17 and from Ashford - were charged with counts of robbery, theft of a bicycle, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Two were charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, and one of the teenagers is also facing a fifth charge of assault of an emergency worker.

One of the teenagers has been released on bail to appear at Canterbury Youth Court on Monday, April 1.

The other two appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 28 and will next appear at Canterbury Youth Court on Monday, March 4.

The robbery comes weeks after explosives were used to nab an ATM machine from the same Co-op, and a robbery in November left the shop's glass frontage smashed.
