Telecom worker injured by falling tree in Sellindge

A telecoms worker was injured by a falling tree while on a telegraph pole.
Police, ambulance and the fire service attended the incident in Brook Lane, Sellindge, this morning.
It was widely reported on social media that the man’s arm was trapped between the tree and the pole that he had been climbing.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service confirmed that paramedics had attended the call.
“We responded just after 10am today to reports of a telecommunications worker injured by a falling tree while on a telegraph pole,” he added.
“Ambulance crews and the hazardous area response team attended, and one man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital after being treated at the scene.”
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson also confirmed that a team had been deployed to assist paramedics at the scene.
