A new feline is ruling the roost at a Kent supermarket.

KentOnline reported in August that Sammy - a cat made locally famous by its frequent visits to Asda's Ashford branch - was killed in a dog attack.

But before a memorial plaque could even be placed, a new furry shopper found its way to the Kimberley Way shop.

Tyson has been delighting customers since November, posing for pictures and lounging in the heated entrance foyer.

Staff have been excitedly keeping an eye out for him after he mysteriously became the third so-called 'Asda Cat'.

Sammy's death earlier this year was marked by a public outpouring of grief.

After the moggy - who turned up in Gillingham after being missing for three months - was mauled by a dog, a fundraising page was set up to fund her vets' bill.

Unfortunately the wounds were fatal and she died the next day.

Before Sammy there was Daisy.

Her owners became frustrated after numerous calls asking if she was missing. Now, however, cats seem to be a common and accepted sight at the supermarket.

Reportedly Tyson lives only doors away from the former house of Sammy, perhaps giving a clue as to why he's succeeded her.
