Tens of thousands of pounds were found crammed in a shoebox after police stopped a car.
Officers are yet to count the money, but believe the container was filled with about £50,000 in cash.
It was seized along with a small quantity of cannabis in the Kennington Road area of Ashford at about 5.15pm on Wednesday.
The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man from Essex, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession of cannabis.
He has been released pending further inquiries by detectives.
