Police arrest three men following an attempted break-in at John Wesley Primary School, off Cuckoo Lane, in Singleton

Three men are today in custody after police were alerted to a report of an attempted break-in at an Ashford school.

Officers were called to the John Wesley Primary School, off Cuckoo Lane, in Singleton, at 11.30pm last night to a report of a burglary in progress.

After arriving at the scene, officers arrested two men from Ashford, aged 31 and 17, and a 21-year-old man from Cranbrook.

An extension is currently being built by contractors from WW Martin behind the school.

Forensic officers were today seen carrying out an inspection at the site.

Site manager Darren Offen said: "We came in this morning and noticed the door of a storage container was busted. It will be fixed today."

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.30pm on Wednesday, July 23 to a report of a burglary in progress at The John Wesley Cofe Methodist Primary School.

"Officers attended and arrested three males close to the scene.

"A 31-year-old man from Ashford, a 21-year-old man from Cranbrook and a 17-year-old from Ashford remain in police custody while officers continue their enquiries at the school today."
