Vandals have forced the closure of a park's public toilets.

Youths were found setting fires in the Victoria Park men's room in Ashford last month, causing damage to toilet seats and flooring.

The boys - of which there were at least three - were seen lighting loo roll and spreading it across the building.

The yobs have prompted repair work to begin, which is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

A spokeswoman for Ashford Borough Council, which owns and manages the site, said: "The men's toilets are currently closed because of vandalism.

"The contractors are waiting for some replacement parts before they can repair and reopen them.

"The incident has been reported to the police."

The spokeswoman has since stated that work is scheduled to finish on Friday or Saturday.
