Stagecoach buses rerouted as sewer work closes Tufton Street in Ashford for two weeks

Buses have been rerouted through a town centre as a road has been closed for two weeks.
Engineers from Kent County Council (KCC) have shut Tufton Street in Ashford from outside The Phoenix pub while works to repair a sewer are carried out.
It means all buses which usually stop in Bank Street have instead been diverted via Church Road into Vicarage Lane.
Updating passengers on its website, Stagecoach says: “Due to roadworks by KCC, Tufton Street will be closed for two weeks which will result in the relocation of some boarding points for local services in Ashford town, as we will be unable to access the usual stops at Bank Street.
“The following services can be boarded from these locations:
“A towards Singleton - Vicarage Lane; AD towards Singleton and Stanhope (evenings) - Vicarage Lane; B towards Kennington - Vicarage Lane; B towards Park Farm - Elwick Road; C towards Williesborough and WHH - Vicarage Lane; D towards Stanhope - Vicarage Lane and G towards South Willesborough and Newtown - Elwick Road.
“A temporary stop will be located on Church Road for inbound services for set down only.
“You will not be able to board the bus here, but you may alight here at your convenience.”
Work started on Monday and is set to last the next fortnight.
The one-way systems in Tufton Street and Bank Street have been temporarily suspended while works are ongoing.
A diversion has been put in place via Elwick Road and Church Road.
KCC says pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
