MOTORISTS have been saying for months that Ashford's new-look ring road is not working properly and is unlikely to ease congestion in the town for some time.
Now even the politician in charge of Kent's roads has admitted it.
In an astonishingly frank assessment of the two-way system, Cllr Keith Ferrin (Con), the county council's cabinet member for highways, said: "We are really not happy with the way it is working.
"It is very obvious that the way jobs are being done is the wrong way."
However, he stressed KCC was doing "everything it could" to improve the situation but admitted he too found aspects of the ring road confusing.
"As a road user, I still find the approach to the civic centre awkward and if I feel that, then I can understand why others do," he added.
