Travellers move onto fields in Herbert Road, Ashford
09:35, 08 August 2017
A group of travellers have moved onto a playing field in Herbert Road, Ashford behind the Asda superstore.
The caravans were first spotted heading towards the area - also known as Scrapes field - yesterday afternoon by concerned residents.
About ten caravans have now set up camp on the field, however action is currently being taken by Ashford Borough Council (ABC) to move them on.
Cllr David Smith said: "The residents in that area have been very good at letting me know what was happening.
"I was told very quickly when the first caravans arrived and the residents have responded well to the actions taking place."
Mr Smith is now working with the police and housing association in order to move the travellers on from the site.
