Five arrests after serious assault at Ye Old Golden Magpie bar in New Rents, Ashford

Two more arrests have been made after a serious assault at a town centre bar.
A man and a woman were assaulted at Ye Olde Golden Magpie bar in New Rents, Ashford on June 30, with police called shortly before 11pm.
They were both injured and the man was taken to William Harvey Hospital for treatment.
A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday, on Wednesday July 10, and released on bail.
Today, Thursday July 11, detectives arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of assault and he currently remains in custody.
Five people have now been arrested in connection with the incident, including another 38-year-old man, who was arrested on July 4 and released on bail.
Two men, aged 27 and 32, were charged and are remanded to appear in court next month.
Signs above the the bar are yet to be updated and still say The Music Shop which closed in 2018.
