A village pub has closed after Shepherd Neame bosses decided to sell it.

The Plough Inn in Lees Road, Brabourne, has been boarded up by the brewery.

It is being advertised with a freehold guide price of £250,000.

Brabourne parish council clerk Sue Wood said: “The pub is all boarded up now and people were very concerned when they saw it, but the measures have been put in place to keep it secure.

“It is sad to see it like it - there are bollards and panels on the windows, so it does look very scruffy.

“It’s a lovely building and always used to be a popular place.

"We are hoping that the sale is successful and the pub reopens soon.”

A Shepherd Neame spokesman said: “After careful consideration, the brewery has decided to sell The Plough.

“It is currently closed while we are in negotiations over its sale for continued use as a pub.”
