Homeowners in Ashford were left puzzled after they found themselves without water last night.
A water main was seen burst on Gasworks Lane with water spilling across the road.
Houses in south Ashford were affected including Jemmett Road and Rising Road.
Resident Spencer Jeffery filmed the aftermath of the incident.
The residents were left without water for a few hours from 6pm.
The area was cordoned off.
South East Water’s Distribution Manager Mark Rice said: “Unfortunately our eight inch diameter water main in Gasworks Lane, Ashford was damaged on Thursday evening.
“It happened at about 6pm and our repair crew was on site as quickly as possible.
"We rerouted water around our network and were able to restore supplies to most customers by 7pm. We estimate about 85 customers had no water or low pressure during the incident.
“The repair was completed by 10.30pm.
"We are now investigating how the water main was damaged and if anything can be done in the future to prevent such an incident.”
South East Water tweeted during the incident saying:
