Nicolle Woods' house on Oak Tree Road in Ashford was targeted on Tuesday night at 9.30pm while her children were asleep.

Speaking yesterday, she said: "I was upstairs and my husband was in the living room, he had his headset on but heard a massive bang.

"Because of his headset it muffled it slightly so he didn’t think to look at the window at the time and I was on the phone so didn’t hear it - it wasn’t until later when he went to close our little window he noticed our window had been smashed.

"It’s double glazing so thankfully it’s just the outside panel.

"It is the first time it’s happened to our house but I’m surprised it’s taken this long to be honest, we’ve been here a year.

"I’m waiting for a forensics team to come out before I call the council again to see whether they will bill us or not.

"I just hope they pick something up so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

"If my children were awake and the stones had gone through the second panel this could have been a whole different story."

Some of the rocks used to smash the window remained between the panes, and have been recovered by police for forensic testing.

A Freedom of Information request submitted by KentOnline in February revealed that Ashford sees the highest number of catapult-related incidents in Kent.
