Ashford: Multi-vehicle crash on M20 at junction 10

A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a multi-vehicle crash on the M20 in Ashford.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the coastbound accident just before junction 10 at 8am.

A man and woman were trapped in separate vehicles and firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to free them.

The woman was airlifted to a London hospital with head, chest and arm injuries, but her condition is not believed to be life threatening.

The man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital by road.

Two lanes of the coastbound stretch were closed for a number of hours, but all lanes have now reopened.

The driver of the lorry, a 42-year-old man, remains in police custody.

The crash came just hours after a body was discovered on the London-bound stretch between junction 10 and 9.

Police investigating how the body came to be on the M20 are urging motorists to check their dashcams.
