A woman has been charged with perverting the course of justice by police investigating allegations of a serious sexual assault.

Jessica Gore, of Curtis Road, was held by detectives probing claims of an attack in an alley in the South Willesborough area of Ashford.

The 32-year-old, who is on bail, is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, October 21.

Forensics officers scoured an alleyway in South Willesborough last week after a woman claimed she had been attacked.

Police cordoned off the area, between Curtis Road and Cudworth Road, on Wednesday, after the incident at around 10pm the previous night.

It had been feared the attack might have been linked to three previous attacks carried out in Singleton by a pervert described as fat and bald.

But police say that this is not the case and that investigations on this matter are ongoing.
