Emergency crews rushed to the dramatic scene earlier today.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman pedestrian, who was waiting to have her car washed, being struck by a car, thought to be a blue Renault Scenic, which then crashed into a tree.

She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital by ambulance before being flown to St Georges hospital, in London.

A SECAmb spokesman said two other people were treated by paramedics but were discharged at the scene.

Speaking from the scene KentOnline reporter Sam Williams said witnesses told her a blue car came round the corner at speed hitting two parked cars and taking out six bollards in front of the store before ending up in a bush.

Manager of the car wash, Edmond, said: "We just heard the bang and then turned our heads around.

"We saw the car end up in trees. The lady from the coffee shop turned up to give them a hand.

"One of my guys ran down there and the next minute there was an ambulance.

"They all tried to help as much as they could before the fire brigade and ambulance got there.

"The lady who got hit was waiting for her car to get cleaned. She was waiting on the corner and the guys were just about to call her over.

"If it was just one minute later she probably would have been alright."
