Two men from Ashford and one from Ramsgate arrested on suspicion of affray following an assault in Ashford's High Street

A four-year-old was injured during a town centre disturbance yesterday.

The young girl needed hospital treatment after allegedly being punched in the face during a fight.

Officers are now investigating the incident and three men, including two from Ashford, have been released on bail.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the town centre, near County Square shopping centre, at 12.31pm to a report of an assault.

The girl, who was at the scene, is believed to have been hit during the scrap.

She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with minor injuries.

Three men were arrested following the incident on suspicion of affray.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to High Street, Ashford, at 12.31pm on Monday, July 28 to reports of an assault.

"Officers attended and it was established a four-year-old girl had been injured during the incident.

"She was taken to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

"Officers have arrested a 27-year-old man from Ramsgate and two 22-year-old men from Ashford on suspicion of affray."

All three have been bailed until Wednesday, September 3 pending further inquiries.
