Roadworks have returned to a section of the A20 in Ashford – just weeks after a two-and-a-half month closure of the same stretch came to an end.
Kent County Council says the latest disruption between the Pilgrims Hospice and Tesco Extra will continue until late February as contractors work on the 192-home Hinxhill Park estate.
They will finally be installing permanent traffic lights at the junction with Honeysuckle Avenue which were expected to be put in during the recent closure.
To allow for the works, three sets of temporary traffic lights appeared on Monday and will remain in place until Friday, February 25.
“This is to allow contractors to complete work to finish the junction to the new property development in the area," a Kent County Council spokesman said.
“The works were not and could not be completed under the road closure last year, due to a roadworks embargo over Christmas which sought to avoid impact on traders.”
Later this year, more traffic lights will be put up in Ashford when contractor FM Conway starts work on the ‘Bellamy Gurner’ scheme on the A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road.
The existing Orbital Park roundabout next to McDonald's will be ripped up and replaced with traffic lights as part of the project.
