An intriguing piece of news has appeared on Ashford Borough Council’s website saying the Zimbabwean prime minister will not be coming to Ashford.
The statement says "Ashford Borough Council would like to confirm that, contrary to some news reports, a rally to be addressed by Zimbabwean prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai on Saturday June 20 will not be held at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford."
A spokesman for Ashford Borough Council said: "Ashford Borough Council and Ashford Leisure Trust were approached by a representative from the Zimbabwean prime minister’s office this month to discuss the possibility of holding a rally at the Julie Rose Stadium on June 20 as part of Mr Tsvangirai's goodwill world tour.
"A meeting was held but the prime minister's office was unable to proceed.
"We have been advised by the Foreign Office that a raly will now take place at Southward Cathedral, London, on Saturday, June 20."
