Butler captures Cliff Temple Trophy

00:00, 22 February 2002

ATHLETE Jennie Butler (Blackheath Harriers) clinched the Cliff Temple Trophy with victory in the final Kent Women's League race at Ashford. The course of Sandyacres Sports Field was rutted and difficult but Butler made light of the conditions as she skipped away from her team-mate, Siobhan Buss and Jenny Harnett (Medway and Maidstone) who held off a late challenge from league runner-up Helen Wheeler (Ashford AC).

Veterans Liz Batty (Invicta) and Chris Bond (Cambridge Harriers) completed the top six with Bond doing enough to win the W35 category overall. Fiona Palmer (Medway & Maidstone) finished seventh but without further team support the title went to Blackheath Harriers from Invicta East Kent and Cambridge Harriers.
