Leon Camier ready to build on his best finish of the season as World Superbike Championships return to Italy

Leon Camier hopes to build on his season’s best finish earlier this month when the FIM World Superbike Championships makes their second visit of the season to Imola on Sunday.
The Ashford-born FIXI Crescent rider who finished fourth in his opening race at Portimao in Portugal three weeks ago, was ninth and seventh respectively at the Italian venue in early May, pushing himself into the top-10 standings.
A first lap collision dented his chances of a possible podium place in the Algarve, and Camier hopes to go close again at what he admits is one of his favorite circuits.
He said: “I like Imola and we can take some positives from Portugal because we improved the bike in quite a few areas.
“We still need to improve the GSX-R slowly and take things step-by-step so I can ride to my absolute limits. It would be nice to have a good result in Imola because all the guys are working very hard and we need to get the Suzuki into the podium fight.”
Camier starts Sunday’s race 11th overall, with 62 points, 10 behind team-mates Jules Cluzel.
Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli leads on 213.
