Douglas sets new powerlifting world record

Kent powerlifter Ian Douglas set a new world record on his way to winning the 82.5kg over-60s title at the BPC UK Open Championships in South Ruislip.
The record was set in the dead lift, with Douglas adding 20kg on to the previous record of 250kg, which had been held by an American lifter since 1993.
Ian, of Ashford’s Olympians Gym, is well-known in the area having run the Railway Gym at Newtown for many years.
