Hockey hosts play along in third

THE home team were the perfect hosts, finishing a creditable third in Ashford Hockey Club's annual veterans (over 40) tournament on Saturday.
Ten teams competed in the blazing sun through pool games and then play-offs. Ashford secured second place in their pool and beat Canterbury A 3-0 for third place.
Last year's winners, BBHC, again reached the final but this year had to give best to Herne Bay who won a very close fought battle by a single goal.
Signing On day and friendly games are being held at Ball Lane on Saturday afternoon, anyone interested in playing hockey should come along to meet the club. Registration for the forthcoming season will take place over the weekend of September 7 and 8, for all sections of the club.
Seniors will be required to register on the Saturday, the ladies section between 12:00am and 2:00pm and the men's section between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. There will be inter club games to play so bring along your kit. Any queries relating to senior registration should be directed to James Horton on 01233 636937. Junior registration will take place on Sunday, at the same time as training. The mini-hockey section between 9:00am and 10:00am and the junior section between 10:00am and 12:00pm. Ashford Hockey Club is always looking for new members of all ages both playing and social. They run five senior men's teams, three senior ladies teams and numerous youth teams.
