Police confirm body found on tracks near Shortland station, Bromley was 16-year-old boy

A body found on a railway line has been confirmed to be a 16-year-old boy.
Emergency services were called to reports of person seen on the tracks near Shortlands railway station on Tuesday.
Southeastern closed its London Victoria route running in both directions between the capital and Bickley, near Bromley at around 5am.
It was later confirmed a body was found on the tracks.
Now, British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed the casualty on the tracks was a teenage boy his next of kin has been contacted.
A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Shortlands railway station at around 4.50am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team, a medic in a fast-response car, and an ambulance crew.
“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Journeys were diverted through Chislehurst and pictures of huge crowds gathering at Bromley South station were shared online.
By 9.26am the same day, Southeastern services in the area had returned to normal.
