Two of tragic firefighter Anthony Knott's children have left a heart-wrenching tribute to him at his funeral.

The Orpington dad-of-four's body was discovered earlier this month in the River Ouse, East Sussex, three weeks after he went missing in Lewes while on a Christmas night out.

A huge search operation was launched following his disappearance with teams scouring land near Lewes town centre, some of which had been flooded at the time he was last seen. Tributes were paid to him in the wake of his death.

A message left by daughter Rosie and son Lewis read: "To daddy, I miss you so much, Love Lewis and Rosie xxx"

Mourners had turned out en masse in Orpington town centre just after 10am to witness the procession.

More than 400 people filled St Giles Church for the 10.30am ceremony.

The service was conducted by rev Matthew Hughes.

Mr Knott arrived on a vintage London Fire brigade turntable ladder. The rain let up for a moment as his coffin was carried into the church closely followed by his his family and fiancée Lucy Otto.

During the Service tributes were read by Miss Otto, Anthony's brothers Arran and Jared, close friend Steve Sheppard, football team mate Robert Utton and colleague John Scanlon.

A statement issued ahead of the funeral read: "Anthony’s family have said that for those who wish to pay their final respects, you are most welcome.

"He will be honoured with a fire brigade procession. The vintage TL will be leaving Valentine & Turner, 262 High Street, Orpington, BR6 0NB at 10:15am.

"All are welcome to join other local businesses and community representatives as they line the high street.

"Anthony's family wish to thank everyone for their ongoing love, support, thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time."
